Blog Hop: Perfect Scoundrels, by Ally Carter, Review & Giveaway

First of all, happy Easter everyone!
I am taking part in the Blooming Love Spring Blog Hop, hosted by CBL reviews.
I am doing a giveaway for the book, Perfect Scoundrels, by Ally Carter (read my review below!)
The giveaway is open to residents of the continental United States only.
The book is a new, hardcover copy
Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society, #3)

Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives: Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it's that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting-or stealing-whatever they want. No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale's family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother's billion dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there's no place for Kat and their old heists in his new role. But Kat won't let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother's will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company's fortune. So instead of being the heir-this time, Hale might be the mark. Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat comes up with an ambitious and far-reaching plan that only the Bishop family would dare attempt. To pull it off, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she's willing to save her boyfriend's company if it means losing the boy. -Goodreads

Ally Carter, you clever girl, that book was SPOT-ON.

From the moment I began reading the Heist Society series, I have been a HUGE fan of Ally's works. Her brilliance and the amount of thought put into the plot is palpable, creating a world of teen thieves that makes it impossible to stop reading. Unpredictable and clever, Perfect Scoundrels continues the series with the same qualities that made me adore the first two novels.

Ally Carter had me guessing from the very first chapter. I did not know which way this book was going, not even what would happen at the end of the chapters. This gave the book a very mysterious feeling, to the point where I felt that it would be impossible to put the book down, because I was so eager to know what would happen next.

The writing was perfectly fit for this novel, a type of writing that gave that mysterious feel I mentioned.

I feel like I have developed a close relationship with each and every one of the main and secondary characters in this book. Each character is unique, having their own personality, shining in their own way, making them each significant to the plot, whether it be minor or major.

Good news for fans of Hale! This book basically revolves around him and his family. We get to know a whole other side of him, which is totally understandable. The way he acts is to be expected, so if anyone complains about how he acts in this book, I will have to correct them, reminding them that he went through a huge loss (Okay, I will stop there, because I am getting dangerously close to a spoiler).

This is one of those few books that manages to keep me smiling for the majority of the novel. The characters are hilarious. So not only does reading this give you a look into the lives of thieves, it also has a ton of humor, making you laugh out loud. It is expected for a person, while reading Perfect Scoundrels, to randomly burst out laughing, resulting in the reader receiving stares and astounded expressions from the people around you. Don't say I didn't warn you.

This is also one of those books that makes all other books I have read pale in comparison. After completing it, I felt the urge to lower the ratings of books that are inferior to Perfect Scoundrels, claiming that they are not worthy of as many stars as I have gave this book. But, you know, after I get a hold of logic, I decided that in my mind, I will rate this book as 6 stars, all the way up there with The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. Now that is an honor.

Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. Thank you Ally Carter for not making the relationship between Kat and Hale take over the plot. I am so grateful the romance didn't take away from the thrill ride of all the cons and thievery.

I am curious as to why so many people have not read this book. The problem isn't that it doesn't have enough publicity, the problem is that so many readers mistakenly pass by this book, dismissing it, and is not exactly one of the books at the top of their TBR shelves. If you sincerely appreciate and enjoy books that are unpredictable, funny, and action-packed, it is CRUCIAL for you to read this book.

Wow. I am so proud of myself. I have written this review without gushing and used rationality to support my love for this book, which is pretty surprising, considering the fact that I had a MAJOR fangirl moment when the book came out.

I chose this book for the "Blooming Love" giveaway because I feel like it displays love well. Not only is the relationship between Hale and Kat growing, but also the relationship between Kat and her large family. Family is very important in not only this book, but the entire series. The main character cares deeply for her family, and I have grown fond of them over the course of the Heist Society stories. Even though they're thieves, and one would expect thieves to be lying, conniving, evil people, this is definitely NOT how Kat's family is.

  6. I totally agree about the whole relationship between Hale and Kat not taking over the whole story! I feel like too many YA novels for girls base everything off the relationship, but I just want a story about a strong heroine, but a handsome rich boy doesn't hurt...

  7. It's finally spring and I can tell you, living in Upstate NY, that I'm happy to be enjoying some warmer weather. I can already tell I have an extra spring to my step. As far as love blooming, I'm sure with people feeling better, love will come. I love romance novels with my very favorites being "Outlander" by Diana Gabaldon, "Beautiful Disaster" by Jamie McGuire and the "Dark Lover" series by JR Ward. They're all so good in different ways!
Happy Spring and thanks for the giveaway!
